Political Breakfast with the Representation of the European Commission
Political Breakfast with the Representation of the European Commission

Volt attended the "political breakfast" organised by the European Commission Representation in Luxembourg.
After Europe Day on 9 May and before the end of the parliamentary session 2021-2022, against the backdrop of a geopolitically turbulent and economically difficult year in which fundamental things are at stake for the European Union and Luxembourg, the Representation of the European Commission in Luxembourg wanted to meet with the political parties that could stand in the 2023 parliamentary elections in the form of a breakfast where all party representatives were encouraged to express themselves on their attitude towards the European Union and its institutions, as well as on any other topical issue of their choice related to European issues.
In this context, the following representatives were invited:
- M. Marc Ruppert, for Fokus
- M. Joe Thein, for Déi Konservativ - d'Fräiheetspartei
- M. Jeff Cigrand, for d’Partei
- M. Ali Ruckert, for KPL
- M. Christian Isekin, for Partei fir Integral Demokratie
- M. Alain Bintener, for Volt
In the end, it was a sad result for Europe and Luxembourg, because apart from Volt, only "Déi Konservativ" appeared, the other parties did not show up. Overall, however, the discussion was very fruitful and we were able to express ourselves on the competences and problems of the EU. Climate change, energy transition, our relationship with Russia, green taxonomy, LBTQIA+ rights, Brexit and more were discussed.
We would like to thank the representation of the European Commission (including Anne Calteux and Diego Fallah) in Luxembourg for the invitation and look forward to further stimulating discussions.
